Leadership should be practiced—not just expected.
The six-week team leadership pilot
Athlete to LEADER gives coaches six leadership practices that turn mental-performance skills into personal leadership and stronger team culture.
Start with one team. Install a shared language. Evaluate whether it transfers into practice and competition before making a larger commitment.
SEE THE SIX LEADERSHIP PRACTICES
Give your coaches a system—not another expectation
Coaches are asked to develop leadership while managing practice time, player development, competition, and team culture. Athlete to LEADER organizes that work into a coach-ready six-week sequence.
Your coaches do not need to become mental-performance specialists. They receive the curriculum, scripts, practice cues, athlete materials, evaluation tools, and support needed to teach and reinforce each practice responsibly.
How the pilot works
1. Identify the challenge
Choose one team of approximately 10–25 athletes and name the leadership or culture challenge you want to address.
2. Install the six practices
Deliver one 45–60 minute session each week. Coaches reinforce the practice with three cues, two recognitions, and one reflection.
3. Evaluate the transfer
Use pre/post evaluation, observable-behavior rubrics, and a 30-day follow-up to assess coach adoption, athlete usefulness, application, and leadership growth.
After the pilot, the decision is simple: continue, revise, or stop.
The six-week sequence
Week 1 — LOOK
Awareness: See reality clearly without allowing performance to define identity.
Week 2 — ENGAGE
Regulation: Manage mental, physical, and emotional state instead of waiting to feel ready.
Week 3 — ACCEPT
Ownership: Release what cannot be controlled and take responsibility for what can.
Week 4 — DO
Execution: Do what the situation requires, regardless of feelings or motivation.
Week 5 — ELEVATE
Standards: Define excellence in visible, repeatable terms and bring that standard to the process.
Week 6 — RAISE
Leadership: Communicate, contribute, and positively influence teammates and the environment.

What becomes possible
Imagine athletes who use mistakes as information, regulate their readiness, own their responsibilities, execute without waiting for motivation, uphold visible standards, and positively influence their teammates.
Without a shared system, standards remain open to interpretation and culture depends too heavily on personality and circumstance. With Athlete to LEADER, leadership becomes something your coaches can teach and your athletes can practice.
