Why Athlete to LEADER exists

Because the scoreboard was never the whole story.

When I was twelve, I learned how quickly circumstances can change. Years later, when the brewery I had built closed in 2024, I faced that lesson again.

There was no way to make the loss disappear. I had to face reality, decide what the experience would mean, and choose who I wanted to become through it.

That question became central to Athlete to LEADER:

Who do I choose to be?

This program is not built around avoiding mistakes, pressure, disappointment, or change. It is built to help athletes meet those realities with awareness, regulation, ownership, standards, and positive influence.

Built from coaching, competition, business, and reinvention

I am Travis Fields. My perspective comes from coaching youth baseball and softball, competing, building businesses, and rebuilding after plans changed.

Across those environments, I saw the same gap: coaches were expected to develop leaders, but few were given a practical system for doing it.

I also understand how difficult it is to develop leadership while managing practice time, player development, competition, and team culture. Coaches should not need to become mental-performance specialists to teach these skills responsibly.

That is why Athlete to LEADER gives coaches a structured, research-aligned curriculum with memorable language, practical tools, practice integrations, evaluation, and clear safety boundaries.

Mental performance is the foundation. Leadership is the outcome.

The LEADER System follows a developmental sequence:

LOOK → ENGAGE → ACCEPT → DO → ELEVATE → RAISE

Athletes learn to see reality clearly, regulate their readiness, own their responsibilities, execute without waiting for motivation, uphold visible standards, and positively influence others.

The coach remains the leader. Athlete to LEADER is the guide that gives the coach a shared language and a repeatable way to develop those qualities.

The standard behind the program

Athlete to LEADER is education—not therapy. It is designed to support observable growth without making inflated promises about confidence, resilience, wins, or statistics.

The program is built around:

  • research-aligned mental-performance education
  • six coachable leadership practices
  • practical tools and practice transfer
  • safeguarding, scope, and referral guidance
  • honest pre/post evaluation and a 30-day review
  • continuous improvement based on athlete and coach experience

Develop better athletes. Build stronger leaders.

Leadership is too important to leave to chance. Give your coaches a practical system for helping athletes lead themselves, strengthen teammates, and shape a healthier team culture.
